How do I Delete a Category or Term? (For Teachers)

You can only delete categories or terms if there are no assignments attached to them.  A good technique is to use the assignment spreadsheet (click on the word "Assignments" in the top menu) and look at the category assignments on the right hand side.  If there are assignments that are attached the category you want to delete, change them to a different category.

Once you have done this, you can delete the category or term from the class Settings display.  Make sure you remove the category by deleting both the name and weighting, and then hit submit at the bottom of the page.

If you accidentally created two categories or terms with the same name it won't be possible to distinguish them in the assignments speadsheet.  In this case just change the name of one of the duplicates temporarily.
